A Mental Health Treatment Plan (sometimes called a Mental Health Care Plan) is prepared by your GP. It’s the document that lets you claim Medicare rebates for psychology sessions. It can also be prepared by a psychiatrist or pedeatrician.
How to get one:
Book a longer appointment with your GP and let reception know it’s to discuss your mental health care plan.
Talk it through — your GP will ask some questions and complete an assessment to see whether a plan is right for you.
Receive your plan and referral — your GP prepares the plan and refers you to a psychologist (you can ask to be referred to Uplift).
Bring both your referral and Medicare card to your first session, or send the referral to us ahead of time.
After your first six sessions, you’ll return to your GP for a short review to access any further sessions.
