Billing

A valid Medicare card and a doctor’s referral are required to use this service, so your doctor will need to spend some time with you to complete the necessary assessment in order to check if you are eligible for the scheme. If you meet the necessary criteria your GP will prepare the Mental Health Care Plan (item 2700/1), which then needs to be lodged by them in order to obtain the Medicare rebate for your consultations with us. Whether you are considered eligible is entirely at the GP’s discretion.

Those people who are not eligible for Medicare or who require a service that is not covered by Medicare such as psychological testing of children can pay privately, but are billed at the rate of $197 per consultation. This facility is also available to clients who require more than the Medicare allotted ten sessions.

Unemployed clients receiving benefits with a valid health care card will be bulk billed.

The Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee for psychological services is $300.00 per session. From 1 January 2024 our fee will be $60-00 above the Medicare rate, that is $197 to see a Clinical Psychologist and $153-00 to see a generalist psychologist. You will be approximately $60 out of pocket in either case.

Workers Compensation, NDIS and MVA CTP claims are billed directly to the insurer.

Our psychologists time is valuable, and often because of waiting list your non arrival prevents another person from receiving a much needed service. To encourage people to keep all their appointments we have regrettably brought in a cancellation fee. This fee of $60-00 is applicable for appointments not cancelled 48 hours in advance. The APS guideline allow for us charge the full fee, but our intent is not to be harsh, but simply encourage attendance.

Clients who do not attend two or more sessions without proper cancellation will be put back on the waiting list.
